Bridal Makeup & Hair -FAQs
Bridal Makeup & Hair — Your Questions Answered
Planning your wedding beauty can feel overwhelming — and it's my job to make it feel effortless. Here are honest, detailed answers to the questions I'm asked most often by brides across London and beyond. If yours isn't here, get in touch and I'll be happy to help.
Why should I book a bridal makeup and hair trial — and is it really necessary?
A trial is something I always recommend — but never something I insist on, because I know it isn't always possible.
Some of my brides are travelling from overseas. Some are last-minute brides who've found me with just weeks to their wedding day. And some simply feel confident enough in what they want to go straight to the day. I respect all of that completely.
What I will say is this: for brides who can make it work, a trial is one of the most valuable hours you'll spend in your whole planning process. Up to 3 hours where we sit together, talk through everything you've envisioned, refine your bridal makeup and hair look, and bring it to life — making sure everything is considered, from your dress and accessories to your venue and the whole feeling of the day. Beyond the creative process, the trial also lets us test that your makeup lasts, photographs beautifully under different lighting conditions, feels comfortable on your skin throughout a long day, and confirms there are no sensitivities to the products I use. You'll leave knowing exactly what your wedding morning will look like — and feeling genuinely excited rather than anxious.
How far in advance should I book my bridal makeup trial?
I recommend booking your at least trial 4–8 weeks before your wedding day. Ideally, your dress, accessories should be confirmed by then, so we can build a completely cohesive look.
This timeframe also accounts for seasonal skin changes — skin behaves differently in winter than in summer and 4–8 weeks gives us enough time to adjust if needed without being so far out that your look feels disconnected from where your skin will be on the day.
For weddings during peak season (May through September), my diary fills up quickly. If your wedding falls in this window, I'd encourage you to get in touch as early as possible — ideally 6–12 months in advance to secure both your trial and your wedding date.
Do you do both bridal makeup and hair, or should I book separate artists?
I offer both bridal makeup and bridal hair, so for solo brides or very small bridal parties, booking me for both is a practical and cost-effective option that also ensures complete consistency in your overall look.
For bridal parties of the bride plus two or more people, I generally recommend booking separate makeup and hair specialists. This ensures every member of your party receives focused, unhurried attention, and that the morning timeline runs smoothly without anyone feeling rushed.
For larger bridal parties, an additional assistant may be required — this is charged at an additional fee of £100 and will be discussed with you transparently during your consultation.
What makeup brands do you use, and why does it matter?
I use only premium and luxury brands — including Chanel, Giorgio Armani, YSL and Charlotte Tilbury. Every product in my professional kit is chosen for a specific reason: its performance under high-definition photography, its longevity across a full wedding day and its suitability for a wide range of skin types and tones.
Will my bridal makeup genuinely last all day?
Yes. I use a combination of waterproof and long-wearing formulas, skin-specific primers and professional setting sprays and sealers that are carefully chosen for your individual skin type. Whether you have oily, dry, mature or combination skin, your makeup is built to last from the ceremony to the last dance.
My Bridal Hair & Makeup package also includes a Wedding Day Touch-Up Kit — mini versions of the key products used on the day — so you and your bridal party can maintain your look throughout. Because real weddings involve real emotions and your makeup should be able to handle every single one of them.
I have a skin concern — acne, rosacea, pigmentation, or mature skin. Can you help?
Absolutely. In over two decades as a bridal makeup artist in London, I've worked with brides across an enormous range of skin concerns, including rosacea, acne and acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, eczema, psoriasis, sensitive skin and mature skin with fine lines and loss of firmness.
My professional kit includes corrective, soothing, and high-coverage products specifically chosen for these concerns. More importantly, I take the time during your trial to properly assess your skin, understand what it needs and select techniques that work with your skin rather than against it. Every bride deserves to feel genuinely beautiful — not masked or covered up, but enhanced and radiant.
Can you travel to my venue or home for my wedding day?
Yes. I'm based in Chelsea, London and I travel to venues and private homes across London and the surrounding areas. Travel costs vary depending on your location, and any parking fees or congestion charges will be clearly outlined on your invoice — no surprises.
For destination weddings abroad, I also offer bespoke packages. Please get in touch directly so we can discuss your requirements and I can provide an accurate quote. My Destination Bridal Masterclass is also available for brides who'd like to learn how to recreate their own bridal look while travelling.
What happens if something goes wrong on my wedding day — what's your backup plan?
In the very unlikely event that I'm unable to attend due to a serious illness or genuine emergency, I will do absolutely everything in my power to arrange a trusted, experienced bridal makeup and hair artist from my professional network to step in and deliver your look to the same standard.
I have strong relationships within London's professional bridal beauty community built over more than 20 years, and I would not leave a bride without support. Your wedding day running beautifully is my absolute priority — not just professionally, but personally.
What are your payment and booking terms?
I believe in complete transparency around pricing and payments — here's exactly how it works:
To secure your bridal trial, the full trial fee is required in advance by bank transfer. Your trial date is not confirmed until payment is received.
Following your trial, if you would like to proceed with the booking my services, a 50% non-refundable deposit of the total wedding day fee is required to confirm your wedding date in my diary. The remaining balance is due in full before your wedding day.
My full pricing — including bridal trials, wedding day packages, bridesmaid and guest services and special occasion makeup — is available on the pricing page. I'd always encourage brides to review this before our consultation so we can make the most of our time together.
How do I get started — what happens when I get in touch?
The easiest and most relaxed way to start is with a free 15-minute video consultation. There's no obligation and no pressure — just a friendly conversation where I can find out about your wedding, your vision and what you're hoping to achieve with your bridal beauty. You can book directly via contact page -link is below.
From there, if you'd like to go ahead, we'll book your trial and I'll guide you through every step of the process. Many of my brides tell me that the consultation alone made them feel significantly calmer about their wedding planning — and that's exactly the experience I want to create from the very first conversation.
